Silver Christmas

Silver, silver, shining bright.

Silver, silver, sparkling white.

Silver tinsel on the tree.

Silver, silver, shines for me.

Silver ribbons, silver tags.

Silver boxes, silver bags.

Silver stars and silver bells.

Silver fairy, silver spells.

Silver moonlight, silver snow.

Silver tree lights, silver glow.

Silver, silver, shimmering light.

Silver, silver, Christmas night.

                 Autumn

Its here again
That autumn light
When all the world
Is painted bright.
Shiny acorns
Chestnuts brown.
Misty mornings
In the town.
Afternoons
Which turn out fine
And bathe the trees
In gold sunshine.
Smokey fires
With yellow flames.
Children playing
Woodland games.
On garden paths
A carpet weaves
Of red and orange
fallen leaves.
Rosy apples
Dark red cherry.
Juicy plums
And sweet blackberry.
Warm rich colours.
Autumn day.
Enjoy it now,
It will not stay.

Who is looking at the moon tonight?

Who is looking at the moon tonight?

Do you ever wonder

when you look up at the sky

Who else is looking at the moon

as the night goes by?

Perhaps somewhere in a distant land,

other children like to stand

And watch the moon high in the sky

As the night goes by.

If only you could hold their hand.

Another child in a distant land.

If only you could talk a while.

Perhaps together, laugh or smile.

Could the moon be watching you?

Smiling, as the moon can do.

Looking down on distant lands

Watching children holding hands.

Children of the world unite.

Stand together just one night.

Think of others, just like you,

Many children watching too.

The world becomes a smaller place

When children of a different race

Stand together for a while

Perhaps to talk, or laugh and smile.

Watch and wonder, by and by

Who is looking at the sky?

I am Winter.

With all the snowy winter weather around at the moment, I have just realised that I do not have a winter poem on this blog.  There are some on my website, but here is a different one for those needing to embrace the winter season, but also to realise that Spring is not too far away!   It is written in letter form.

I am Winter,  King of Seasons.

Dear Autumn
                                                    Time to go!
                                               Scram! Vamoose!
                                               It’s time for snow!

I am Winter, King of seasons.

I bring snow for many reasons.

I decorate the walls and gates

With mountain tops of fluffy flakes.

I am the White Knight of charm.

I bring stillness, peace and calm.

I freeze ponds to silvered mirrors.

I float icebergs down the rivers.

I am the Black Prince of darker nights.

I bring the beauty of bright lights.

I twinkle stars in frosty air.

I bring the warmth of festivals to share.

I am the Ice Lord with ambition.

But when I meet the Spring Magician

Who scatters snowdrops in the lane,

                    My icy grip will slip…..

      I die, defeated once again.

                                          So, Autumn, take your bow,

                                                    Time you went

                                                 It’s my turn  NOW!

                                                          Yours,

                                                        Winter.

                                                  King of Seasons.
