About Me

Hello, I am Brenda Williams, a published children's author and poet. My books which are published by Barefoot Books in several different languages, are detailed on my main website here.

They include "Lin Yi's Lantern", which was listed in the Smithsonian Institute of U.S.A Notable Books for Children 2009 which highlights the most fascinating titles published in that year. It was also named as one of the titles chosen for "Reading is Fundamental's" Multicultural Collection of Children's Literature in 2012.

"The Real Princess", a best selling book, is illustrated by Sophie Fatus. It includes a Story Cd read by Juliet Stevenson, and was described by the New York Times Review as a "beguiling mix of number lore and fairy tale."

More recently published in 2015, are "Outdoor Opposites", which is beautifully illustrated by Rachel Oldfield and includes a sing-a-long rhyming-text audit and video animation, and "Millie's Chickens" illustrated by Valeria Cis. With a lively educational rhyming text, this book describes one day in the life of Millie as she cares for her backyard chickens.

As a former Primary School Teacher, and Early Year's Specialist, I have also written several educational resource books for teachers.

I am a regular contributor to educational magazines, writing poetry, short stories and articles for both Early Years and Primary children. My poems are also published in many anthologies, including some by John Foster, Paul Cookson, Brian Moses, and Kenn Nesbitt.
